SOPA on the Go

I thought that WordPress will be joining the strike against SOPA or the Stop Online Piracy Act in the US. Guess it didn’t take effect where I’m residing. Anyway, for those of you who are curious what SOPA is all about, take some time to read this article.

I find this Stop Online Piracy Act senseless. I was debating with a friend that the blackout is to our advantage anyway, so we can resort to more credible resources rather than plagiarized materials online. Still, that’s the whole nature of the world wide web. There’s freedom to express without the censorship. Of course, there’s this little twist that Google, Wiki and the others are all based in the U.S. so I guess the SOPA can be applicable to them. It’s just one way to ruin the business I guess.

A lot of netizens will be affected over this, and I guess online businesses will be a lot more limited in terms of their online marketing strategies. Optimization will be a lot more tedious now, and the whole purpose of internet will be defeated. How about they just go against pornography instead. Online censorship is just too… Well I don’t know… I am really doubtful that this will even be implemented to begin with. If it’s an issue about copyright, then that should be the resource’s problem. It’s just a challenge of how they can protect their information. Some companies/organizations exactly know how to go with the online trend and compensate with such issues. Well I can’t back this up much since I am not knowledgeable about how this is done, because for some reason I don’t see much Disney series going around that much. Guess there’s still control over that and surely it was effectively done.

So much for SOPA. I already forgot what I was supposed to blog today. Just remembered that I have to buy some sweets. That’s it for now.
