Viral Video: Teach Me How to Brushy!

Posted in D-Entertainment, Dental News & Updates tagged at 2:29 am by queenqueer

The video Teach Me How to Brushy goes viral with the tune of “Teach Me How to Dougie” by Cali Swag District. The video features kids grooving with the hip hop theme while showcasing big toothbrushes for dental awareness.

“We had no thought that this would go out of Oregon that far,” Dr. Jones told KOBI-TV, the NBC affiliate in Medford, Ore. The video has been featured on the home page of MouthHealthy.org, and on “Good Morning America,” the “Today Show,” Huffington Post and other national and online publications.

“We wanted to create a fun, interactive tool parents can use to get their kids excited about good dental habits,” said Dr. Jill Price, ODA president-elect. “The mouth is a major health center in the body; unhealthy mouths can lead to diabetes, heart issues and worse. But rather than lecture parents and expect that lecture to reach their kids, we wanted to create a hub for good facts that families will actually want to check out.”

Fangs on the Trend List?

Posted in D-Entertainment tagged , at 1:15 am by queenqueer

Yesterday I was reading Michelle Phan’s blog and came across an entry where yaeba teeth or double teeth are becoming a trend in Japan.

crooked teeth

The yaeba teeth can be described as crooked with fang-like features due to croded teeth.

Normally people prefer having their teeth straightened by braces or invisalign, but in Japan, several dental and cosmetic procedures are offered to those who would like to achieve the yaeba look starting at around 30,000 yen.

It is said that misaligned teeth make girls seem more approachable because of the imperfection. The child-like feature is perceived to be cute by men which makes them feel more confident and comfortable being around those girls.

A theory says that women with seemingly perfect features intimidate or scare some men. Men perhaps think that these women are out of their league and constant rejection can degrade their ego.

Crooked teeth on the other hand can be a disadvantage when oral health is concerned. Having crooked teeth will make one more prone to having food stuck in the teeth and eventually lead to cavities.

In my opinion, spending much to get your perfectly straight teeth turn crooked is a crazy idea.

Dentist Collects Celebrity Teeth

Posted in D-Entertainment at 2:14 am by queenqueer

This is old news but I thought it might catch your attention. I read that last November a dentist from Alberta wins an auction in the U.K. bidding $30,000 for John Lennon’s tooth.

Michael Zuk apparently has an unusual hobby of collecting animal teeth and celebrity memorabilia and John Lennon’s rotten molar might just be a cool catch for the dentist.

John Lennon Tooth Molar

As to where the tooth came from, it was reported that John Lennon has given his molar to his house keeper during the 1960’s. The housekeeper’s daughter kept the tooth all this time and put it up for auction.

Zuk plans to loan the tooth out to those who would like to showcase the tooth.

And if you think that’s not enough, just recently he bought Elvis Presley’s Crown last month. He bought the crown for $10,000. Quite a find actually.

Somebody surely has their expensive addictions.

Korean Girl has Not Brushed Her Teeth for 10 Years

Posted in D-Entertainment at 6:04 am by queenqueer

What would happen if you’re too stubborn to brush? I’m too scared to even try to let a day pass without brushing, but a Korean Celebrity has, and she has not brushed her teeth for 10 years.

A popular TV Program in South Korea called Martian Virus features people with peculiar and grotesque habits and characteristics. Recently it was reported that a 20-year-old girl named Ji Hyun-ji, also known as Cutey Yellowish, who has stopped brushing her teeth for 10 years now.

“I do not understand why people should brush teeth, as it is not like others will look into your mouth,” said Ji Hyun-ji, 20. “As food scrapples piles on, they will actually protect my teeth”

It was also known that she only wipes her front teeth with a tissue for special occasions.

If you’re curious about the whole story, this episode of Martian Virus will be revealed on April 5, 2012 midnight. They will also reveal the dentists’ diagnosis of her oral health condition.

A pretty face with a really weird habit I might say. But seriously, I just want to throw her into a dental clinic and just quarantine her there for a year. Someone please talk some sense to that girl.
